AIDA4 / Wave 3 is for advanced freedivers who want to train at a higher level with deeper knowledge, more precise technique, and stronger self-awareness in the water. This course is designed for serious progression. It builds on your advanced foundation and introduces deeper training concepts, more demanding equalisation work, and higher-level safety awareness.
We teach this highly customisable master program over the course of several weeks, but it can be adapted to individual circumstances.

Overview
We offer this course as part of a longer master program of 24 sessions over 4-5 weeks, as we believe only repetition, routine and regular practice create the confidence across all disciplines to become a Master Freediver and Assistant Instructor.
The program is an individualised coaching plan that includes dry routines, theory, drills, advanced equalisatoin, mastery of all freediving disciplines and depth progression. For those who are aspiring to become instructor there’s an option to assist in courses to listen and learn from the instructors.
It is possible to split this program into training blocks and/or amend it according to previous experience.

Course Structure
1. Theory
You will be expected to study the course manual independently, which will be discussed in knowledge review and workshop sessions. These theory lessons will be done throughout the course whenever relevant to the practice. You must pass an online exam and also present a stretching session (AIDA4).
The course covers mouthfill equalisation, safety concepts, nutrition, DCS risks, FRC diving, dive set up, Assistant Instructor role and more.
You will be given a stretching and breathing routine to follow in your own time, that will be updated as you go along.
2. Confined water
Confined water sessions will be held throughout your program to practice Static, Dynamic and buddying. Technique is expected to be refined and longer distances and times are the goal.
You may also join instructors and listen in to courses to learn.
3. Open Water
We usually dive 3 days folllowed by a day off and the training is organised in blocks with specific focuses. We work on all depth disciplines, gradually go deeper, and build a solid base for the 32-40m range. You will be expected to perform buddying, safety, deep rescues, do drills and learn how to set up all equpment.
You may join instructors to learn how to teach students for depth.
Requirements
- An advanced freediving certification is required
- A recent CPR / First Aid certificate is required
- You should be interested in structured depth training that delivers results over a longer period of time
- You should be medically fit to dive
- This is not an entry-level or intermediate course
You should be 18 years or older
Performance Standard
At this level, performance matters more, but it still sits inside a bigger goal: mastering technique, safety, and control. At Freedive Tioman we believe that practice makes perfect and repetitions bring confidence and progres; we don’t just tick off boxes on a completion form.
The goal is for you to become an all-round solid freediver, who knows how to train, is a great reliable buddy to others and is confident in their approach.

It is suitable for serious recreational freedivers, who want to train at a much higher level or are looking towards a professiona path.
Will I train in both pool and open water?
Yes, however, in Tioman we practice pool disciplnies in confined water in the ocean.
What is the difference between AIDA4 and Wave 3?
